It Comes Alive, 2023
It Comes Alive explores the way in which Black women’s hair becomes a living, breathing, entity of its own. It shifts with the environment it finds itself within, resulting in endless manifestations that ebb and flow with the natural world. There is freedom in this ever-changing expression, and in that freedom, one finds power.
Premiered at The Garden of Earthly Delights, an August 2023 exhibition by the NYC based artist collective Textured Memos at PHILLIPS.
